here we go
Jun. 29th, 2018 05:22 amMy workplace is having a big event today — details have been a little sparse, though.
What I know with absolute certainty:
*The event is called SAFETY DAY (all caps apparently required).
*Lunch will be served.
Not quite so clear:
*Is the company open, other than SAFETY DAY festivities?
(signs point to yes, at least on a limited basis)
*If the event is 5 hours long, how are we getting paid for the other 3 hours?
(look, no one knows, but a lot of people are ready to make a ruckus if it doesn’t get figured out, and I’ve already had my wrist slapped by HR for being difficult about it, so I’m leaving it alone)
*Is it mandatory?
(yes? no? yes, but only if you don’t have something more important to do?)
And completely baffling:
*The parking lot will be closed, so we’ve been told to carpool. From WHERE, though? (They do realize we don’t all live in the same place, right?) And TO where? All the carpooling in the world doesn’t eliminate the fact that SOMEONE is going to need to park SOMEWHERE at SOME POINT.
*We’ve also been told to bring a full water bottle. And that re-filling stations will be available at 10 am. (Why 10? WHO KNOWS.) But — they already are? Inside? Where we will presumably have to be able to go, in order to use the bathrooms? Right? RIGHT?
In conclusion, the one thing we can all agree on is that this will be an excellent source of stories, likely for years to come.
