marcicat: (agh a monster)

Yesterday I coworker noticed I was wearing a t-shirt from a local 5K, and then basically did a double-take in the hallway and said, “Wait, how did you get the men’s version?” (Same picture, same color, but the men’s shirt has a crew neck and the women’s was a v-neck.)

So I said that I’d signed up for that one when I registered for the 5K (since it was one of those where you have to pick your shirt option ahead of time). And since I wasn’t entirely confident where the conversation was headed, I added, “I didn’t want a v-neck shirt.” (Not mentioned but also true: “mens” sizing also tends to be more consistent and easier to guess at — I got a mens medium, and it was bigger than the womens x-large.)

And then I basically held my breath, really hoping this wasn’t going to become an issue. But she was all, ‘I hate v-necks! I just want a standard t-shirt! I can’t believe — in all my years of doing 5Ks, I never thought of that! What a good idea!’

Which — I mean, phew, that’s great! But also, PSA — ask for whatever shirt you want!
