twenty seconds
Feb. 15th, 2020 07:11 amMy workplace is invested in making sure employees show up (I mean, in 'keeping everyone healthy,' of course), so they addressed this by sending out some reminders about washing your hands. It was the classic '20 seconds, or sing the happy birthday song twice' and I was bored and thought 'really?'
Ahem. And so, my findings:
*I sing the happy birthday song too slow, apparently. It took me a good thirty seconds to get through two renditions.
*It's honestly much easier to just sing it once, but with a lot of enthusiastic embellishments and imaginary operatic accompaniment. Twenty seconds: no problem.
*I am lucky enough that no one pays much attention to me at work, and I ruthlessly take advantage of this to do exercises in the bathroom (one wall sit=one duolingo lesson; it's *very* motivating). So twenty seconds to wash my hands seems like nothing compared to the amount of time I alreadywaste spend away from my desk.
*There must be something better (aka more fun) than the happy birthday song, though.
*I tried the fifty states song (just the state names; who can remember all the bits before and after?) -- it took just about twenty seconds to get from A-M, and then another twenty to get through the rest. (I was hurrying though; it's possible I forgot a state or two -- but it was fun!)
