weather: always an acceptable topic

In a classic New England twist, the weather for the 'first weekend of fall' is significantly warmer than last week's 'last weekend of summer.' (Maybe 80F degrees today!)

However, it is currently cloudy, and the trees are changing colors, so there's definitely a fall vibe to the day. I'm trying to talk myself into doing some cooking, which hopefully will happen. And I've promised myself that once I get through the boring chores, I can start on the fun change-of-month stuff.

(On the other hand, the cat is starting the day with nap time, which is an excellent choice all around.)
