Coming down the mountain was, perhaps, not his most thought-out plan. In his defense though, he really wanted to explore the cultivation world, to go on night hunts. Wen Sizhui wanted to have his own experiences, not live off listening to his aunts and uncles tell him of the world.
So, he'd gone to Aunt Qing one afternoon and laid out his plan to her, because he wasn't irresponsible enough to disappear off the mountain and not tell anyone.
