*You know what would be great? If someone had already written the fic I want to read about 'Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain.'
*To be fair, it is entirely possible that someone has written it! (Just not in English.)
*One of the fun things about subtitled shows is getting to play 'is the storyline actually nonsensical and contradictory, or was that mis-translated?'
*Like, at one point they said the deadly thingamajig came from space, and then later they said it came from deep within the ground? Maybe it came from space and then they sealed it underground? (But why?) IDK, it's possible I wasn't paying close attention to that part. The confusion might be my own fault.
*But also the internet tells me the show was based on a book, and that the book ending was "significantly more tragic." An excellent reason to ignore that ending and offer an alternative!
*This show totally reminds me of Douluo Continent, in the way that early episodes spend ten minutes showing two minutes of plot, and by the last few episodes they're like, 'we have 18 separate plot lines all happening at once and will resolve exactly none of them; you're welcome.'
*But you know what, that's great! That's the perfect opportunity to swoop in and mess around and fix things up however you like!
