I'm 'helping' with a project at work that's 'managed' by another team. That team has a lot of newer people, including some who haven't been involved with this project before, and yesterday one of them messaged me and was all, 'how is [this specific situation] handled?'

And I didn't want to be rude and say 'that's the part of the project that's your job, so you should probably find out' because they were clearly trying to find out! Not sure why they were asking me, but maybe they asked a bunch of people, how would I know? 'Ask everyone and see who answers' is totally a valid strategy.

So I tried to be all tactful and gave a 'that's not an aspect of the project I've worked with before, but it seems to me it depends on a few factors' type of response. And I laid out a sort of if-then scenario with a couple options and questions depending on how their team's part of the project works.

They replied back 'I like your questions' and I heard nothing else from them the rest of the day.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? What was I supposed to respond to that? Why is interpersonal communication so baffling?
