workaday Tuesday
Mar. 7th, 2023 06:52 amYesterday I had a meeting with my interim boss and they 'announced' that they've decided who's going to be the next manager of our team. They attempted some level of tact in explaining that it had been in the works for a while, and they hadn't said anything before yesterday because it was a secret. Or whatever. Corporate brain gymnastics are terrifying and I try not to think about them.
The point of the story is: I am SO PROUD of myself for not blurting out 'called it!' or (perhaps even worse) 'I started that rumor months ago, but I didn't actually expect to be right!'
Yes, new!manager's promotion was perhaps the worst kept secret of all time. But that's no reason to call attention to it -- it's not like I want them to start being more stealthy! (Though if they wanted to hide their biases a lot better, I'd be A-OK with that.) Newest boss is a woman; I genuinely wish her the absolute best of luck, I just wish I didn't think she'd need it.
