awkward conversations to have at work
Mar. 15th, 2013 01:25 pmBoss: “There have been complaints about phone usage.”
Me: [blah, blah, generational differences, blah, doing their jobs, blah, blah, how does it look to others]
Boss: “Do you think I’m setting a bad example?”
Me: …
(Because there’s no good answer to that question. Clearly, the boss is setting an example. He’s the boss; he’s *the* example. (Like Nick Fury, but with less swearing and snakes.) But if he doesn’t have any problems with employees using their phones whenever and wherever, then the example he’s setting isn’t bad.)
I said something random about expectations that didn’t really answer the question, but I’ve been thinking about it off and on since then.
Conclusion: I wish I had a better phone.
