Which kind of vegan cheese? There are several, and while I do agree that vegan cheese does fall rather short of the real thing, some kinds are worse than others. IMO, rice cheese is the least appetizing imitation cheese. I do recall trying one kind of soy cheese that was not terrible, though I cannot remember the brand ATM. VeriSoy perhaps? This is a random guess based on a logo I may or may not be remembering correctly.

It was more the expectation vs reality -- I hadn't realized it was vegan cheese (pretty sure it was made with pureed cashews), so I was expecting dairy cheese. It wasn't horrible as a food on its own, just not what I was planning to taste when I put a bite in my mouth and thought 'mm, cheese.'
