I had an actualfax argument with a customer today in which I insisted it is July 1st (which it *is*) and they insisted it was July 2nd (which it is not).

Their supporting evidence included “I said it was July 2nd earlier today and no one disagreed with me,” and “a lot of people think it’s the 2nd today.” My supporting evidence was A CALENDAR.

I tried, in the politest way possible, to explain that this was not a complicated and controversial issue that we could agree to disagree on — it is, in fact, July 1st, and any check written today will need to reflect the *actual date* of July 1st, as opposed to any individual’s “gut feeling” date of the 2nd, 3rd, or any number other than July 1st.

The customer was unconvinced by my logic. This otter represents my approximate expression after the exchange was (finally) over.

Did you finally convince them to write the check dated July 1? Did you offer to show them your phone? Did you ask them to check their phone? This sounds like a hilarious conversation to watch from the sidelines. Though I do have sympathy for you for actually having to have had it.
