marcicat | movie review: The Heat

Things I Thought I Would Not Like About This Movie, But Turned Out Not To Mind:

1. The swearing.
(I was fine with it. Tumblr has inured me to many things, and expletive-laced language is apparently one of them.)

2. The violence.
(It actually — wasn’t that violent? Compared to, say, Die Hard 5, which was probably the last R-rated movie I watched. Also, not scary.)

3. The tropes.
(Borderline? I guess? I mean, no fat jokes, that was nice. Lots of Boston jokes, which worked for me as a New England-er.)

Overall Conclusion:

I found the plot to be overall disappointing, but the individual moments of the movie were very funny in a ‘you have to be in the right mood for it’ kind of way.
