Context: I was visiting the building next to the building where I work — “next door,” we call it, which is a nice mix of factual and vague. Just about everyone who works next door keeps their doors closed, and has a white board or other messaging system with which to communicate with people.

Actual Sign: “Forget Abstractions!”
I’m not really sure what this was supposed to mean; even a google search to prove it was a real word didn’t offer much assistance (it is, but I’m not sure how it relates to the rest of the message).

What I Thought It Said: “Forget Abstinence!”
My brain wasn’t really paying attention, and I just glanced at the sign as I walked by. Apparently I thought abstinence was a more likely word choice than abstractions. Then I had to turn around and go back to check.

Actually, I think abstinence might have fit better.
