My current work schedule is noon to 8:30 pm, which works great for me, and seems to be an endless source of fascination for my “first shift” coworkers. Which is fine, it gives us something to talk about, but sometimes I dread walking in to work and hearing The Question.

“So, what did you do this morning?”

I mean, occasionally I get to say something exciting, like ‘I took my car to the garage,’ or ‘I went to the dentist.’ But then there’s the days when it’s more like ‘I sat around for a while trying to convince myself I was awake, and it was already 11 by the time I remembered I never brushed my teeth.’

Today is one of those days.
