These are the two Hawaii 5-0 fics I always think of when I watch the show. Just sharing the love.

1. untitled comment fic by leupagus
The one where Kono (and Chin) teach Grace to surf, while Danny freaks out and Steve holds his hand.

“Oh, I’m honored,” Danny says, because one thing he’s learned about Chin is that when he thinks you should be happy, you’d better goddamn well be happy. “It’s just, I’m a little. You know. Concerned.”

Steve, slouching on one of the beach chairs, says, “About what? Sharks? Jellyfish? Rogue surfer terrorists?”

2. jersey city, new jersey, by screamlet
The one where Steve and Danny go to New Jersey for a case, and Steve doesn’t know how to use any computers that aren’t super awesome.

Steve calls Chin back, just to yell, “Why aren’t you coming?! Danny’s happy, I can’t catch bad guys and… he’s happy!”

“Sorry, I can’t get 3G here, that’s weird, I’ll talk to you when you’re off the plane,” Chin says crisply before he hangs up.
