An update on my adventures in feeding the birds: so far, so good! A little messy. Lots of fun watching them, though.

I think my favorite bird so far is the woodpecker — there’s one that shows up every few days or so and hangs out eating out of the tray feeder. (I told it that woodpeckers weren’t supposed to eat from feeders, but it hadn’t read that book.) It always gives me this look like ‘you really think I’m gonna pass up this free snack?’

And the cat remains relatively entertained by the feeders, which was the whole point, so that’s good! It has been a startlingly warm December so far, but it’s still be nice to have something cheeping around out on the balcony, making everything seem brighter on the gray days.

[NOTE: putting off the usual workaday Wednesday post because tomorrow is the HOLIDAY LUNCHEON at work. I’m expecting that will be deserving of at least one or two dedicated posts once it’s all over and in the books.]
