I am super lucky in my work schedule this week, since I managed to snap up two vacation days (yesterday and tomorrow). That does mean I’m headed to work today, which should be… interesting.

The whole saga of the new computer system happening concurrent with the holiday season and end of the year has been a looming crisis ever since it was announced, but there was a point, early on, when I thought ‘they’ve got this.’

That feeling is somewhat less, now. Today we’re having a two hour “review” session, which I expect will go one of two ways:

1. Disaster. One or two people will hold up the entire thing by not remembering how to do basic things that may or may not be a part of their job, and we’ll bog down long before we get through a complete review.

2. False hope. In an effort to make everyone feel positive about the transition, the review will only include the most basic material, which everyone will fly through. We’ll feel great until January comes and we’re right back to disaster.

Anyway, that’s been our pre-Christmas excitement at work!
