not exactly DIY

Over the weekend, I decided it was time to tackle two pesky and simple projects that I’ve been meaning to get to.
First: replace a burned out lightbulb in one of the kitchen lights.
Second: it took me forever to realize that one of my shower curtain rings was only looped through the inside liner and not the outside curtain, but then I couldn’t unsee it — an easy fix!
Well, it turned out to be not so much on either of those. I started with the lightbulb — climbed up on a chair, carefully unscrewed the only thing that seems to unscrew on the light fixture, and then stood there confused when that did nothing. I still can’t get the actual cover part to come off the light to get at the bulb. I tried jiggling it, turning it — it’s either stuck, or I’m going about it the wrong way.
But I figured at least the shower curtain thing, I could fix! I just needed to unhook the ring, reposition it so it was going through both layers, and snap it back together. Except when I tried to unhook it, I snapped it in half instead, so now it’s really broken.
After all that, I decided it was probably better if I put off checking the oil in my car until my DIY aura was improved.
