It turns out that’s how long I can get an air mattress to last with nightly use. When I first moved into this apartment, I got an air mattress, because: easy to move, inexpensive, quick setup, no bed frame required.

And it’s been great! Chilly at first, but that got sorted with some extra blankets and a $20 mattress topper.

Unfortunately, the trouble with air mattresses is that when they *stop* being awesome, there’s not a lot of middle ground between that and “completely useless.” I went from waking up Friday morning and thinking ‘huh, it looks like it could use a little top-up,’ to waking up today thinking ‘help I’m being swallowed by my half-inflated mattress!’

Time for some more research.
