Overwhelming emotion: AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Best advice from this year’s novel: Creating a situation in which communicating information is difficult (like a POWER OUTAGE, my FAVORITE!) is a 100% legit excuse for all of your characters to think something different is happening. Which is great when you’re trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days and can’t remember who knows what, and you accidentally keep changing the plan every day because you forgot you already decided something different.
