marcicatWe did not go to the Kennedy Space Center, but we did go to the Kennedy Space Center gift shop in the airport. A thoroughly enjoyable experience! They had Mars Curiosity Rover commemorative coins, which made me tear up because the internet made me love a robot rover, and this is why:

when they made us, they called us discovery; they called us curiosity; they called us explorer; they called us spirit. they must have thought that was important.
2. CERN Scientists' happy ending to that xkcd comic about Spirit
"You have done a good job. You are our hero. Look, there is the Earth. Welcome back."
3. that other tumblr post about Curiosity singing Happy Birthday
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the stars to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
