also me: [is at that awkward point in the novel where the only thing I really know is left is the finale, and I haven't planned it at all so I have no idea how many words it will take, so it wouldn't go amiss to have all the characters do something else for a few thousand words]

me: [...I mean there's always quicksand]

(Side note: Apparently I've never included quicksand in a nano novel before. It's a first!)

I only read the part in the email but I thought of you immediately! "So much less quicksand than childhood led me to believe!" I can totally see all of your characters discussing this phenomenon. Probably as they are dealing with actual quicksand.
