I figured I should ‘review’ the first disc (parts one and two), so that I can come back and lol about it once I’ve watched the rest.

So. My thoughts so far.

1. It reminds me of Inception, actually, or maybe Inception: The Next Generation. Paul totally has that Dom Cobb ‘tragic absentee father’ thing down pat.

2. It’s a bit slow in places. I get that there’s a whole world-building, plot-developing thing going on. If I had *any* idea what was going on, I might be bored.

3. This is what I knew about Dune going into my viewing experience: there’s this series of books, Dune refers to a planet, something about worms, and spice, and politics. And a vague sense of epic plots and betrayal. It’s possible I started reading one of the books at some point, that seems like something I’d do. It’s also possible that what I watched last night would have made more sense to someone familiar with the universe.

4. I like the music a lot. I know that’s something you say when you can’t think of anything else nice to say, but it’s true.

5. James McAvoy and and Jessica Brooks (especially her!) should totally win a prize for pulling off their outfits with such panache. (Then again, so far they’ve wisely stayed away from hats, which appear to be a curious stumbling block in Dune fashion.)

I've seen Dune. A looong time ago. Both versions. Cause there's the original movie, and a remake from like, 2001? Or something. I just remembered that. I remember I liked it, one more than the other. I watched Children too, and I had no idea what was going on...
