The great plant over-wintering adventure has begun. (Yes, it’s still early for cuttings, even in New Hampshire, but last year I remember being SO COLD getting my hands all wet and dirty planting stuff out on the balcony in October, so I did it early this year.)

The last few years I’ve over-wintered some coleus* cuttings, which have largely been successful, in the sense that while they don’t exactly thrive, they also don’t die. But this year I somewhat successfully kept an iresine plant and a persian shield plant alive outside (the iresine is a little bit in question right now, but the other one looks good!), so I decided to try some cuttings of those also.

We’ll see what happens!

[*Just want to give a shoutout to the “kiwi fern” coleus — I swear this is the happiest plant I’ve ever seen. I had five pots of it out on the balcony this year, because it just kept growing. Three years in from the original sprouts, and it’s still going strong. Way to go, kiwi fern!]
