marcicat | mud season

Went for a walk today at the place where it’s easy to get a little lost, but hard to get a lot lost. (The trails don’t really match up to the map, but it has some easily recognizable landmarks and is surrounded by suburbs, so you can’t go too far astray.)

It was muddy. Not actually as muddy as I expected? In the sense that some areas were not muddy at all, and I kept being surprised by it. This is that fleeting moment of the year where you don’t quite need a winter hat anymore and also don’t quite need bug spray yet. The downside: it’s, uh, pretty bleak out there. Especially on a cloudy, gray day like today. The upside: no ticks! (Probably.)
