Today at work I'll be getting a free lunch as part of Candidate #2's interview process. Candidate #1 never re-appeared -- I am not high enough in the gossip chain to know what happened, so I am free to guess (didn't get offered the job? didn't want the job? moved out of the country suddenly and with no warning? won the lottery?).

But apparently we didn't do a good job "interviewing" the last person over lunch -- which, btw, is super awkward and seems mean -- like, this is their only break in FOUR HOURS of interviews, and they're trying to EAT FOOD, and we're supposed to grill them on their leadership style? So this time we got list of questions.

I can only assume that the questions were hastily googled and pasted into a google doc, because they're pretty random. One is like, "What is your preferred approach to performance reviews -- quarterly, annual, other?" And we're all looking at this question like -- um, wouldn't they be required to follow the standard company policy regarding performance reviews?

ANYWAY, it's a free lunch! Which is cool! We'll see if I get a chance to ask the hard-hitting questions, like "What Hogwarts house would you be in?"

At least the question wasn't "If you were any piece of office furniture what would you be and why?" My supervisor actually asked that question when we hired the last person.
