ADVENTURE PREP DAY
Sep. 7th, 2019 05:56 am*Time to get ready to go adventuring!
*Time to add some more warmer clothes to the pile!
*Time to... close the windows? In a shocking development, it's actually pretty chilly out right now.
*Not nearly as chilly as it is predicted to be in the mountains for our adventure!
*Ahaha I have spent the week checking the mountain weather reports and reminding myself that I have done plenty of outdoor walking in colder temps, and it'll be fun!
*Sometimes this reasoning is even convincing!
*Gotta love outdoor adventures. In the span of two weeks, I've gone from 'what are the symptoms of heat exhaustion' to 'what are the symptoms of frostbite.'
*Reminder to myself: put the next day's clothes inside your sleeping bag with you so they'll be toasty warm in the morning.
*Reminder #2: cold weather will drain the phone battery faster -- find an inner pocket to stash it.
*Reminder #3: in the mountains, no one cares how foolish you look. Wear ALL the layers!

Date: 2019-09-07 03:01 pm (UTC)Interestingly, I heard "no-stove meals" being talked up as a way to stay warmer on the trail, specifically because it was so cold in the morning that some people felt like they warmed up faster if they could eat in their tent and then go rather than "standing around fussing" with a stove. I was like, look, I'm lazy, so it doesn't take much to convince me to eat in bed, but that makes sense to me!

Huh! This isn't something I knew, and am glad I do now.
