Work story time, because it's too good not to share! 

SO -- my workplace allows people to order office supplies on the company account -- gotta be approved by your manager, so it's usually not worth it, but it's a great way to get a day planner each year.  And if you're going to get a day planner, why get a plain one when the fun one costs the same?  (It should be noted: my day planner lives at my desk, so it's not typically seen by anyone but me.)

ANYWAY.  So I picked out my 2020 day planner and sent my request to  my manager.  And I may have abbreviated the product name, just a little.

Full product name: 2020 TF Publishing 9"W x 11"L Planner, Love Rainbows, Pink
Name I submitted: 2020 TF Publishing 9"W x 11"L Planner

I was just being efficient!  (Actually, no, I just thought it would raise fewer eyebrows without the "love rainbows pink" part.)  But the item part number was included in the request (Staples Item # 24415864) so it's not like my manager couldn't have checked what it looked like.  

But I'm pretty sure they didn't, because when they forwarded the request to be entered, they changed the quantity to two, so they could get one too.  

Now, it is POSSIBLE that my manager has a previously unknown love of pink and rainbows.  This -- seems unlikely.  I'm pretty sure they are in for a fun surprise when this order arrives.  I considered telling them.  And then decided not to.

That is such a lovely work story. I really hope your manager does a double take, and then just shrugs and uses the planner all through 2020. ;-)

Me too! The planners should be arriving next week, so we'll see what happens then!
