Let the great cat food search begin! When I adopted Maggie in the spring, she was eating a prescription food, because of the options available at the shelter, that's the one she kept down the best. Perfectly reasonable under the circumstances, but not necessarily the best option once those circumstances changed.

Since then we've had six months of so of her eating a different dry food with fair-to-good success, while we worked on things like 'patting: why it's okay sometimes' and 'please let me comb you, the internet says it will really help with hairballs.'

And then she decided maybe she would just not eat that food for a few days, and I, as an anxious cat caretaker, began to fret that perhaps I have been neglecting important cat signals about what she wants. I had a little sample of a different food, and when I tried mixing it in with her current food, suddenly eating was happening again. And thus began the search.

Now I have three new food options (two dry, one wet) to test out, using the Cat Rules:
1. Will she eat it at all?
2. Will she eat it consistently?
3. Will it make her throw up?

So far the one thing I can say for certain is that she really likes the catnip toy I ordered to bump the order up to free shipping.
