Oct. 16th, 2019 05:59 am2020 planner update: it has arrived! But it was anticlimactic -- I had to prompt the boss to give it to me at all, despite the fact that it sitting RIGHT THERE. (Office supplies get delivered to the manager who approved the order, which is supposedly for efficiency, but rankles a bit when it's such a small team and the person delivering it had to WALK BY MY DESK to put it on the manager's desk. Anyway!)
The boss has decided to pretend that he's sure someone else asked him to order the exact same planner, which is why he ordered two, and he just "can't remember" who the second person is. An interesting strategy, for so many reasons.
[I feel like perhaps this boss has never worked with children, because in my experience the whole 'let's pretend this didn't happen' technique is zero percent effective with kids, and in fact they will immediately hone in on it with the kid!radar for 'things that are embarrassing for adults' and NEVER LET IT GO. Best to own up to it and make it a joke that you can share with them, because that's the only way you'll get through it with any dignity.]
