Merry Christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2019 05:40 amHahaha not exactly a quiet and peaceful 'not a creature was stirring' night last night. Woke up sometime after midnight to a horrible noise; took way too long to figure out it was the fire alarm. Spent longer trying to figure out if the building was actually on fire and whether I should evacuate quickly (aka jam my feet into shoes and sprint from the building), slowly (aka get the cat into a carrier), or not at all.
While I was deciding, watched two police cars show up, along with an emergency vehicle that was definitely not a fire truck and thought maybe I wouldn't need to evacuate after all. Heard someone pounding on a door on the floor below me and thought I *would* need to evacuate after all. Put the cat in a carrier. Fire alarm turned off. Eavesdropped on my across-the-hall neighbor asking (who I am guessing were) emergency personnel in the stairway if the building was on fire; they said they hadn't found anything.
More people came back inside. Let the cat out of the carrier. Tried to relax enough to go back to bed. Cat decided it must be morning and meowed for breakfast. Finally fell asleep. Christmas morning arrived!
