what season is this?

Heading out for a FOREST WALK this morning, and the classic 'what season is this' question looms. Will there be snow? Ice? Mud? Ticks? All of the above? (Probably yes.) It seems early for black flies, but I did see some flying insects around yesterday, so who knows.
