I watched something!
Aug. 13th, 2020 05:40 amAfter seeing multiple posts on tumblr, I figured I check out the netflix version of 'The Babysitter's Club.' I have now seen four episodes (out of a total of ten), and I like that the episodes are so short -- 24 minutes or so? I don't remember being a huge fan of the books, although I definitely read some of them and probably enjoyed them, because I remembered things like 'weren't there more of them?' but almost nothing else.
Anyway, here are some reactions to the first four episodes:
*They are in SEVENTH GRADE? I wouldn't trust seventh grade me with a child.
*They are all improbably good-looking and well-dressed. They're still growing! Their families must be spending a fortune on clothes.
*Relatedly, are all these families super rich? Zero aspects of my middle school experience are reflected in this show. Which gives it a sort of surreal fantasy filter that -- let's be real -- actually makes the show more fun to watch.
*(You know what I remember about seventh grade? Okay, practically nothing. But generally speaking, I feel like I spent a lot of time doing homework. Do they even have homework?)
*The music is nice!
