nanowrimo day 4
Nov. 4th, 2020 06:14 amHere's a thing I like about nanowrimo: it motivates me to just keep writing. Because the goal is 'write 50,000 words,' not 'write a good story.'
Like today, I'm looking back at 5000 words of 'I have no plan, what is this even,' and I'm thinking, 'none of these words are the fun happy words I wanted.'
But then I think, 'that's okay, I still have 45,000 words to go! I can write whatever I want!'
Which I think is very much the concept of nanowrimo -- if you get caught up in trying to make the first 5000 words good, it's too easy to get stuck on them. But if you keep going, some good nuggets will sift out along the way.
(Also, it turns out that after a while, I forget what the story was like in my imagination, and when I go back and read it years later, it's usually surprisingly fun!)
