So, I ‘edited’ my NaNo novel pre-posting.
Nov. 30th, 2010 11:59 pmIn a moment of NaNo-induced madness, I told *Andrea that I was going to post my novel right away, while it was still November. Then I figured I’d better at least read it first.
Things I’m Fixing
1. egregious spelling errors
2. missing or misplaced words
3. italics (Write or Die doesn’t have an italics option; also I wavered inconsistently back and forth between italicizing phone conversations or not)
4. tense issues
5. spacing problems (between chapters, extra or missing spaces between words)
Things I’m Not Fixing
1. when I was typing in Scrivener, it automatically switched my double hyphens to one long hyphen, but when I typed in Write or Die and then copied and pasted, it left them as a double hyphen
2. single vs double quote marks for the written version of “air quotes,” or the grammatically tricky: her expression said ‘I don’t know whether to use one quote mark or two!’
3. extreme overuse of the words actually (84), really (123), pretty (59), apparently (28), and okay (42)
4. run-on sentences
