I still haven't actually told anyone at work that I'm moving, which started out as a reasonably logical choice and now is just kind of funny. (The move shouldn't impact my job at all, so it's not like they *need* to know right now.)

Early on, I figured why tell them? Nothing was certain, and it wasn't like I wanted to invite a lot of unasked-for advice or opinions.

And then I didn't want to jinx it, which I feel is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

And now it's reached the stage where it seems like it is definitely going to happen, which is amazing, and I still feel uninterested in the advice or opinions of my coworkers, and I have to admit it would be funny to just suddenly be in a different place on a zoom call one day, and be like, 'oh didn't you know?'

Anyway there is still plenty of time to contemplate this situation.

My boss moved states sometime last year. I completely forgot where she moved to and at this point it's too late to ask, so I'm just accumulating context clues. But I don't have any idea where she is.

So my recommendation is, be like my boss, mention you'll be moving over the weekend or taking some time off to move, change the subject, and leave everyone else wondering where you actually are. XD

Too funny! I think we've all been there -- some important piece of info gets shared and you think 'ah, whoops, I wasn't paying attention, but if it's important I'm sure they'll mention it again at some point.' And they they just don't? And eventually it becomes too awkward to clarify, so you just hope it never comes up. (ie. the names of at least half my coworkers!)
