caturday joy: introducing Cagney

I thought a lot about all the things that are easier to do when you're not taking care of a cat, and I realized that I didn't want to do any of them more than I wanted to have a cat to love, so we visited the SPCA this week and adopted Cagney.
(SPCA Volunteer: "She's a little shy." Me: "She's -- letting me touch her? This is the least shy cat I've ever adopted.")
She has only been here a few days, and she's still very much in 'settling in' mode, but I think she's doing well. She has already trained me to leave her wet food on the counter (dry food can go on the floor, apparently, but wet food cannot), and to move my pillow so she has a clear path to jump up and down from the windowsill (all night long). I have not trained her to do anything, which seems entirely accurate for cats.
