...I humbly put forth the word "roust" as an excellent way to test two vowels and three of the most common consonants.

(To be honest, I have no standard starter word. I just pick whatever five-letter word pops into my head first when I open up the game, and play from there. But I often find myself looking at a *second* word choice that needs to not include the letter 'e,' and that's when roust can come in very handy!)

"Spoil" often works as a good second word for me as well. :)
