nano fic rec Friday

marcicatI tend to get distracted while I'm writing -- I'm a big fan of the "don't need to be studying to take a study break" philosophy. During nanowrimo, my usual strategy (not writing) is actively counter to the goal (writing). So I take a lot more mini-breaks in an attempt to trick my brain into doing the thing.
I've found it pretty successful and fun to intersperse writing with reading chapters (preferably long-ish fics I've already read with short chapters). Today's nanowrimo fic accompaniment is:
to arrive late is better than not to arrive at all, by Moominmammashandbag
Jiang Wanyin crosses his arms and knocks an incense burner over. His reflexes are excellent, and it doesn’t hit the floor, but Jiang Wanyin curses again. He replaces it and stomps to the door.
“I can’t stand this many tables!” he yells and flings himself out.
