day 19: this is not a drill
Nov. 19th, 2022 06:57 amThis is not a drill: Thanksgiving is in FIVE DAYS.
(Sort of? It's the sixth day from now, counting today as day one. I have been confused about how day counting works every since elementary school, and at this point I'm scared to ask.)
Early in November I always pretend that getting my words on Thanksgiving -- a holiday! no work! -- will be No Problem, but now that we are within panic distance, I can admit that the likelihood of getting 1667 words that day is Actually Very Small.
Getting 700 words might be more manageable, though! So I'm going to try to write an extra 200 words each day in the Thanksgiving run-up, instead of trying to make them up after the holiday.
Will this work? WHO KNOWS! Will it keep me from spending several hours a day reading Batman fanfiction? (who even ARE these people?!?) Signs point to no, but one can hope!
And in the spirit of hope, nanowrimo, and Star Trek:
"If you give people hope, they'll give you a miracle."
