we made it!

marcicatWe have now officially achieved the coldest cold snap of the year (so far, but hopefully it's a record that will hold!), and come out the other side, with power on and pipes not frozen. ::sigh of relief::
(I'd prefer not to think about what our next heating bill will look like, but mostly I'm just glad we got through it!)
I think the most funny part was us trying to make sure the animals would stay comfortable and warm, and them completely disregarding our efforts. With approximately a dozen warm cozy beds to choose from, the cat spent a significant amount of time lying on the floor, six inches from the drafty sliding door, watching the birds. It's easily the coldest spot she is allowed to go. Luckily she has lots of insulation!
