Movie Review: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Dec. 12th, 2010 07:22 pmUm, I liked it. I read Voyage of the Dawn Treader at some point, I’m pretty sure. Like 95% sure, because I remembered it was the one with Eustace. The only other thing I remember from the book is that Edmund thought ‘Eustace’ was a bummer of a name.
I thought the movie was awesome. Way happier than the second one, and everyone was so pretty and awesome and clever. (Loved the flashlight.) Particularly liked that to me, Dawn Treader was the first one that really emphasized that the experiences the kids have in Narnia are meant to have relevance and meaning in their world.
Caspian really gave the movie a more relaxed feel, because he never seemed that worried about anything — he was pretty much all ‘Hey, it’s the Pevensies! Let’s go for a boat ride to go find some dudes we lost track of, because I’ve already fixed all the other problems kicking around. It’ll probably be tough, but it’s cool; we can totally handle it, because I’ve got this kickass crew that’s awesome. Plus, it’s not like Aslan’s going to let anything happen to Lucy, right?’ Even when Lucy got snatched on the island, there was no major angst and crisis. Caspian was all, ‘Edmund, Iooks like I’ve let your sister get kidnapped. Bad luck about that, let’s go rescue her, yeah?’
There were lots of things that made no sense in the movie, of course. And the ending made me cry. But I still liked it — Would Watch Again.
