Being expelled from the Jiang had been the threat that Madam Yu had liked to wield the most throughout Wei Wuxian’s entire life. Any time he made a mistake (even if the ‘mistake’ was just being better than Jiang Cheng at something), he was reminded that his presence at Lotus Cove was unwelcome, and conditional.
Having the worst finally come to pass was almost a relief.
