workaday Wednesday
Oct. 9th, 2024 07:34 amYesterday I had my weekly meeting with my manager, and they asked me what I thought of the new CEO. I struggled to come up with something that communicated 'I paid attention to that meeting and am invested in the future of the company' but also 'I am not a troublemaker.'
Some things I managed not to say:
*Don't you think the new CEO looks like Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica???
*Do you think they were wearing safety shoes for that meeting? (They should have been, based on location, but somehow I doubt it. The rules, as ever, rarely apply to everyone equally.)
*I forgot about the new CEO until you mentioned them just now.
*So far they are just like the last CEO: completely absent from my experience of the workplace.
Eventually, I fumbled my way through an almost-tactful response about not interacting much with the CEO and changed the subject. It was not graceful.
