marcicat: (badger roses)

I watched the Superbowl last Sunday, because there are times when I put forth the effort to be like a normal person, and it’s good to at least know the basics when it comes to cultural events everyone talks about.

Conclusion: It was so long! (And the halftime show was mesmerizing.)

Anyway, I haven’t actually watched any of my regular tv shows since then. I’ve been remiss, but I’m trying to make up for it with reading.

Reasons other than the Superbowl why I (and my tiny attention span) have been reading fanfic this week instead of watching tv.

1. no commercials
2. often has a more satisfying ending
3. shorter

(*why yes, I’m pretty sure I do write that title differently every time I use it, mostly because I can never remember from usage to usage how I did it before)

With This Ring, by marguerite_26
Merlin, Arthur/Merlin
Author Summary: “After being enchanted, Uther forces Arthur and Merlin to marry.”

This was basically everything I find hilarious about the Merlin fandom. It’s Arthur and Merlin and ridiculous made up rituals and handwaving!magic, and Gaius making shit up, and Uther being bamboozled except maybe not really, and then bam! Arthur and Merlin wind up married and living happily ever after!

Merlin shot another look at Arthur. He was thinking, at least, brooding rather than throwing Merlin in the dungeons. A voice in his head suggested maybe he was *plotting* the best way to throw Merlin in the dungeons and Merlin frowned.
