movie review: Pacific Rim

The heat is supposed to break at some point today, hopefully before I do. In celebration, a movie review! (Note: Two hours in the air conditioned theater was great, but my car’s AC is not enough to handle temps over 100F.)

So I saw Pacific Rim. It was good!

Okay, true story: I love that this movie is not based on a book, *especially* a series of books. I think it’s great that books, and book series, get made into movies, but it was very clear watching Pacific Rim that it was made to be a movie, and that was fun.

Which is to say, it didn’t matter so much when the dialogue was weak, because it tended to be less important than the visuals anyway, and the visuals were awesome.

Overall: would watch again, but probably not till I could see it at home so I could turn the volume down on the underwater fight.

it did seem cooler while I was laughing

Okay, no, it’s still Really Hot. But a video of Hank Green singing about it being too hot still made me laugh!

It’s not about the current heat, but that didn’t impact it’s topical nature for me.
