movie review: X-Men Days of Future Past
Feb. 15th, 2015 01:51 pmOkay, I’m not totally sure about the handwavey “science” of this movie, but it seems like a silly thing to get hung up on. Because basically this movie was for Raven to get to have a hero’s journey, for Erik and Charles to finally acknowledge their epic love, and for Logan to watch the whole thing from the sidelines (for once *not* being the one who remembered the least).
I loved the way the future!team worked together. I loved Logan’s explanation when he first arrived in the past. (“I just got here like, twenty seconds ago!”) I liked how Charles’ decision between walking and his mutant powers mirrored the “mutant cure” storyline of the third movie.
I wanted more Alex, more Peter, more Blink, more of all of them. I’m not entirely sure why there aren’t reams of dystopia!fic about Erik and Charles at the end of the world, or post-fix fic about Jean and Scott and Logan all working out their issues.
