Jul. 5th, 2018 05:24 amSince I did not barbecue anything for the 4th of July, I figured I could do something else that would be culinarily celebratory. But, you know, easy.
And I don’t love barbecue chips, so I decided to really go wild and try the Maple Bacon Kettle Chips. The cashier was SO EXCITED that I was buying their favorite chips, which seemed like a promising sign.
My review:
1. I can’t taste maple or bacon in these chips. But I’m not sure I want to? There’s definitely sweet, salt, and smoke flavors, all of which are enjoyable.
2. The package really throws me off, because it has a picture of pancakes on it. There’s bacon next to them, sure, but it’s the pancakes that are the visual star of the picture. And I just can’t reconcile pancakes with potato chips — the textures are all wrong. (Also the chips have nothing to do with pancakes!)
3. The flavor is pretty good. But it bothers me that I can’t match it up with what I expect when I look at the bag way more than I thought it would.
4. I am going to eat them all anyway. Honestly, if they renamed them “Salty Sweet Smoked Potato Chips,” I’d probably buy more. As long as there was no pancake picture on them.
