workaday Wednesday
Aug. 22nd, 2018 04:50 amThis was an actual conversation I had with a coworker.
Me: “I’m sending a question about [project] to another team — do you want me to copy you on the email?”
Coworker: “I know about [project]. What’s the question?”
Me: [painstakingly explains the question, the backstory, and the potential consequences of various answers]
Coworker: “You should ask the other team about that.”
Me (already knew that, which is why I was emailing them in the first place): “Okay. Do you want me to copy you on the email?”
Coworker: “That team is really the one in charge of making decisions about [project].”
Me: “Right. Do you want me to copy you on the email?”
Coworker: “No, you don’t need to.”
Coworker (30 seconds later): “If you’re going to email the other team about that question, could you copy me on it?”
Me: “…Sure.”
