here’s a thing I did not know

For reasons relating to starandrea’s amazing books, I have the (free!) kindle app on my phone. For reasons relating to language learning, I was googling around yesterday for ways to get free children’s books in Spanish (preferably on my phone, since it is marginally more acceptable to be staring at my phone at work than at a picture book).

Which led me to amazon (I know, I really do, but I did check the local library app first and they had nothing, and I kind of feel like while I should definitely be prepared to live without the convenience of the internet after whatever economic / ecological / social catastrophe comes our way, I’m not clear on what benefit denying myself now has for anyone, but I digress!).

ANYWAY. So I typed in ‘free kindle books in Spanish,’ and lo! Books! For free! In Spanish! And some of them were for kids, and some were even bilingual, which is super great because I am really not at the stage of being able to read a book, I just get bored easily. (Although in a humorous turn of events, the first book I read was about eating fruits and vegetables, and Duolingo has ABSOLUTELY prepared me to say “I eat apples,” or the variations, “You eat apples,” and, “Duo eats apples.”)

ANYWAY AGAIN. Amazon has free kindle books. I didn’t know! Now I do.
